I have a question and a concern. Will you see a boost in performance with an HD5870 and an 8800GTS in NON-PhysX games? If there is a boost in non-PhysX games then I might consider getting an HD5850 seeing as it's 100 bones cheaper. Still supposing that there is a performance increase with the two cards in non-PhysX games, will the 8800+5850 = 5870 alone in regular games? Because those are my options and both would cost me 300 bucks. If it's REALLY worth it I might swing it for an HD5870+8800GTS 512MB combo.
My concern is will my PSU be able to handle two cards of this caliber?
Power consumption ratings look like at about 80% load they both use ~250w. That's already 500w! And not even at full load. I have a 610w Power Supply with a single +12v rail rated at 38a. Add that 500w onto a 4GHz QX9750 and that's like another 130w at about 80% load. 630w already is used up... not to mention 4 HDD's, 2 optical drives, 4 high power 120mm fans, 4 case fans, motherboard, RAM etc etc.
Any advice will help...
